Our History

A laboratory with a prestigious past

1897 :

Marcel Mérieux, who studied under Louis Pasteur, establishes a biological laboratory in Lyon

1976 :

His son, Dr. Charles Mérieux, brings the laboratory under the umbrella of the Mérieux Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation whose objective is to fight infectious diseases in developing countries.

1996 : Acquisition of specialised medical pathology laboratory from the Lyon Pasteur institute.

A laboratory looking towards the future

1998 : Laboratoire Marcel Mérieux leaves the Mérieux foundation to become a SELAFA company
1999 :

Acquisition of Claymon laboratories in Ireland

2000 : Acquisition of LCL laboratories in Paris
2001 :

Acquisition of the Ruffié laboratories in Bordeaux, renamed Bioffice

2008 :

Marcel Mérieux laboratories and LCL merge to become Biomnis, French leader in specialised medical pathology.
