Specialised Medical PathologyMost of Biomnis’ activities focus on specialised testing based on advanced technologies in the fields of allergy, histopathology and medically assisted reproduction as well as specialised biochemistry—physical chemistry, foetal physiology, molecular biology, cytogenetics, haematology and coagulation, endocrinology, immunology, serological markers for Down’s Syndrome and microbiology.
Screening and titers are performed with the help of the most up to date and sophisticated techniques such as HPLC: HPLC, ICPMS, GCMS, hybridation, infrared, sequencing, flow cytometry, Real time PCR, viral cultures, RIA, etc.
Clinical researchThe Clinical Research Department was created in 1998 with a dedicated team and premises. Substantial experience has been acquired in running clinical studies for the pharmaceutical industry, an activity that is based on the expertise of 45 pathologists with access to state-of-the-art equipment. With a broad catalogue of established tests at its disposal, the Clinical Research Department is also in a position to develop specific assay methods. The laboratories are ready to deal with large volumes of samples and meet the rigorous requirements of clinical trials in terms of traceability, data archives (CFR norm part 11 etc) and the testing frequency required.
Genetic fingerprintingGenetic fingerprinting is used in forensic medicine to identify or exculpate suspects, and also in paternity cases. Biomnis has a specialised fingerprinting laboratory with all the equipment and accreditations necessary to perform such tests (which are subject to very particular legal constraints). Legal experts from the fingerprinting laboratory are consulted in a variety of different fields, including evidence samples analyses (exhibits), profiles for the Criminal Registry, mitochondrial DNA sequencing and paternity tests. |
