Infection Control

The hospital environment comprises a broad range of different liquid, solid and gaseous components to which patients, visitors and staff may be exposed. Microbiological monitoring is an integral part of hygiene control in such an environment.

In order to protect patients and health care providers, the hospital environment has to be controlled, notably by identifying potential sources of infection. This will depend on implementing basic hygiene rules, on staff practices and on establishing a preventive surveillance system based on controlled processes (audits) which will sometimes necessitate microbiologic testing. Biomnis can perform such tests on all types of water samples, including, potable water, water used in treatment procedures or swimming pools, or haemodialysis water.

For instance, Biomnis can detect and quantify Legionella according to the recommanded French authorities AFNOR T90-431 Norm. Biomnis is also accredited by COFRAC – pgm 100-2 Programme for this test and is monitored by intercalibration networks (such as AGLAE). For Biomnis French based customers, samples can be collected by our qualified technicians and delivered to the laboratory on the same day. Results are turned around within 15 days with, if necessary, a preliminary report.
